☀️ UNCAGED: ISSUE #9- Chained in the Heat: Dogs Are Dying While We Wait
Extreme heat and neglect are killing chained dogs across the U.S.—they need urgent relief before it's too late.
🔎 TODAY’S FOCUS
As extreme heat sweeps across the U.S., PETA fieldworkers are finding dogs left chained outside with no shade, no water, and no escape. Temperatures are already in the triple digits, and summer has just begun.
These animals are often forgotten in backyards, trapped on heavy chains, and left to suffer silently while heatstroke, dehydration, and slow, agonizing deaths become all too common.
In many under-resourced areas, families may love their dogs but simply can’t afford the shelter or support these animals need to survive the heat. That’s where emergency care—and your help—becomes life-saving.
🐶 THE REALITY OF BEING CHAINED OUTSIDE
— Dogs can overheat within minutes when tethered without shade or airflow.
— Chained dogs are three times more likely to die from heat-related causes than indoor dogs.
— Law enforcement often doesn't step in until it's too late.
Many of these animals suffer in silence—out of sight, out of mind—until someone steps up. That someone could be you.
💧 HOW YOU CAN HELP
PETA’s rescue team is delivering doghouses, cold water, flea/tick care, and emergency relief to dogs trapped in this dangerous heat. But this critical work takes serious resources.
